Professional Learning

There is a commitment to focused adult learning that underpins a continuous improvement effort within the Diocese of Broken Bay System of Schools, the Diocesan Parent Council and the Catholic Schools Office.

This aligned improvement effort is directed toward optimising the learning opportunities and outcomes of each and every Broken Bay student.

Teacher professional learning is shaped and targeted based on the school improvement priorities in each school and the learning needs of the students within the class. All teachers are encouraged to inquire into the learning needs of each student, understand the curriculum and contribute within their own class to the whole school improvement priority. The demands of these interrelated factors then determine what a teacher needs to learn. The best teacher professional learning is as close as possible to students and their learning.

As a system there is a coordinated leadership effort that we call Leading Learning to support the kinds of teacher professional learning just described.
